How Religion Affects an Individual, a Community, and a Nation of Diversity

Religion has always affected an individual, society and nations as a universal phenomenon. Let us discuss and analyze certain aspects of religion that impacts us. In many scenarios, religion has helped individuals to overcome bad habits like alcoholism (binge drinking), drug addiction and aggressive lifestyles. In other words, religion forms the foundation of modern morality. It guides and helps us to decide what is correct and what is incorrect.

Many researches are indicative of the fact that religion has always played a major role in the promotion of communities/societies. It emerged from a few tribal groups to the modern social arena.

In modern times, we are leading lives wherein all of us are disintegrated as a society. The lively bonding and sense of togetherness amongst the community is fading. Here, religion according to many of us plays a vital role in strengthening this bond. It is observed that local religious communities tend to contribute massively to improve society with the help of charities and good social deeds. Thus, it can be inferred that religion enhances local communities and enable human relationships to grow and flourish.

Now, as we move further, we will observe the affect of religion on a nation of diversity. India’s name comes to our mind when we talk of a nation with diversity. It righteously accommodates so many religions. Religion plays a pivotal role in India. There are so many beautiful rituals, methods of worship and several religious activities that are part and parcel of an individual’s life. Interestingly, these activities also act as a basic organizer of the social life.

Although the level of religiosity is different amongst different individuals but the respect for all the religions holds true in the Indian scenario. This aspect teaches as to lead a life by following the culture of unity in diversity.

Last but not the least, in India, the religious diversity is high and it further results in increasing the national identity at a global level.
